“Black,” Brown and Purple Varieties for 2023

Black Cherry (64 days) This dark 1” tomato is a pure burst of delicious smoky flavour, especially when eaten straight off the vine. Large, vigorous plants. Indeterminate.

Black Pineapple (aka Ananas Noire) (80 days) Ever wonder what the northern lights taste like? This tomato will let you know. Sweet, fruity, rich, smoky-it’s complex flavour reflects the spectrum of deep red-purple, green, yellow and pinkish red that you see. This is a large multi-coloured beefsteak with wonderful taste. Indeterminate.

Black Plum (70 days) An abundant producer  of 2", elongated, oval, plum-shaped fruits that are coloured a beautiful deep-mahogany with dusky-green shoulders and garnet red flesh. Fruit resembles a small paste tomato but with thinner walls. Unique, sweet, tangy, rich, complex flavours. Great for snacking off the vine, sliced and scattered into a salad or making a rich, dark-coloured pasta sauce. Indeterminate.

Black Prince (70 days) A beautiful dark red garnet Russian variety. Sweet, rich and fruity, the medium sized fruit are smooth and blemish free.  Excellent yield. Indeterminate.

Cherokee Purple (80 days) An old Cherokee heirloom, pre-1890 variety; beautiful, deep, dusky purple-pink colour, superb sweet flavour with a hint of smoke. A very-large-sized fruit. Indeterminate. 

Chocolate Stripes (80 days) A consistent taste-test winner, large tomato plants yield a plentiful crop of 3-4 inch, mahogany coloured with dark, olive green-striping (similar to black zebra).  Fruits have delicious, complex, rich, sweet, earthy tomato flavors. Produces well into the autumn. A great sandwich tomato and salad tomato. Indeterminate.

*SOLD OUT* Paul Robeson (70 days) Named in honour of the famous black singer and social justice advocate, this famous tomato has almost a cult following among seed collectors and tomato connoisseurs. The fabulous-tasting distinctive, sweet and smokey fruit are a dark red colour with green shoulders. Indeterminate.
